The most notable research on the usefulness of meditation in relieving stress was made in 1968 by Dr. Herbert Benson of Harvard University. He led a series of experiments on the popular meditation techniques and published its findings in the book "The Relaxation Response." He found that meditation is a "real effect on reducing stress and controlling the fight or flight response." Mr. Benson said that meditation increased resistance to infections or damage to the skin, slow heartbeat and breathing, and reduced oxygen.

Meditation is aware of your body and your mind relax for a period of time. The act of meditation is very simple to do. Meditation does not require hours of practice time to be effective in reducing stress. The practice of meditation is ten or twenty minute time slots is certainly good enough.

The temperature of the atmosphere (if you're inside or outside) should also be comfortable for you to do your meditation to combat stress as possible.

Anti-stress meditation is concentration. Focus your attention on your breathing throughout your meditation session. Count your breath. The imagery is very popular in meditation. Music is also a popular way
